Eva Collins : Photographs and Writing

Words

Couturier

Fussy Nature
drapes robes woven with time
over tree branches
craggy rocks
far horizons

crocheting spider webs
sweeping star dust into air
puffing out the sails,

smoothing edges
wrinkling textures
changing colours -
green to yellow to brown,

But when the show is over
it crunches wearer and wardrobe
into dust -
pretending it never happened

and then
starts up again:
complimenting, advising
grooming its new models for the next parade

Only
to bleach colours
suck out juices
smash their brittle frames
discard the remains.

Predictable, methodical, relentless.
